Sistemul “ECHELON” a aparut prin 1995 dar in anul 2000 a aparut si primele statii de receptie de pe teritoriul romaniei , ele nu au caracter de a urmari sms sau apelurile oamenilor ci au rolul de a filtra toate cuvintele pt a depista eventualii terorirsti , daca intr-un sms sa la un apel telefonic se foloseste un anume cuvant din baza de date a sistemului atunci acesta v-a urmarii acel numar de telefon pana cand cei din spatele tehnologie il vor verifica sa vada daca este credibil.
Pt mine echelon repreznta un sistem de supraveghere mult mai minutios.
