In their never ending pursuit of pain inducing technologies the U.S. government through the Department of Justice is developing not one but two light weight man portable laser and microwave pain bean weapons.
A modified version of a laser rifle originally developed by the U.S. Air Force is being tested for civilian law enforcement. The new weapons will be able to inflict pain on citizens at a distance.
This is just the latest torture toy to be deployed on the streets of America is the size of a large rifle which emits a laser heating the skin of its victims capable of causing second degree burns. The National Institute for Justice is calling the pain beam device the Personal Halting and Stimulation Response weapon.
The device works best when there is exposed skin as a spokesman for the product say, “In LEC [Law Enforcement and Corrections] use there is always a little bit of skin to target.”
These type of weapons known as Active Denial Systems have been seen recently at both the Democratic and Republican political conventions.
With the growing concerns over the misuse and abuse of tazers currently used by most law enforcement agenicies in the U. S. civil liberties experts expect these new laser devices that can be fired from a further distance to be used frequently and without much concern for public safety.
As usual spokesmen for these weapons systems say it is better than killing or wounding a citizen with a bullet.
